Savannah knelt in front of the headstone and carefully pulled the weeds that had grown up at the base of it since she had been out here last. She focused on that for a few moments, making sure that that area around the simple memorial was clean of weeds and other unsavory things.
After she was satisfied, she lit the candle and placed it on the top of the stone. She recited a simple spell, and the area around her warmed up slightly as she ran her fingers along the inscription.

There was no body here, of course. She had no idea what had been done with Eve's body the night they killed her when they were trying to escape the compound.
You would think that the passage of time would make the loss and the guilt easier.
You would be wrong.
"I'm sorry mom," she whispered. "I am so sorry. If I hadn't asked to stay home that day, none of this would have happened."
Her mom had only been caught by those assholes because they grabbed her and used her as a hostage to get her to comply. If she hadn't stayed home from school that day, her mom would have been able to escape the kidnappers and she would still be alive.
"I'm sorry," she whispered again.

This isn't something I really think anybody wants my opinions of. With the exception of Paige and Lucas, and Clay and Elena, I'm pretty sure that all love does is tear you apart inside and make you cry.
But that's just me.

Family is Paige Winterbourne.
When my mom was murdered, Paige's mom was going to adopt me and take me in. However, the same people that killed my mom were then responsible for the death of Paige's mom. When that happened, Paige decided that she would take me in and become my guardian. You have to give the lady credit. Her mom was murdered and she adopts a twelve year old handful -- and she's barely twenty-three.
There have been ups and downs with people coming from all directions to give Paige a hard time about things, but she's always stood up for me no matter how much we may pretend that we don't for the things the other is doing. But Paige has gone to the mat for me and I've fought for her, too.
Yeah, there are others that care about me and are quite probably part of my family... there's the Pack and Jaime and Lucas and Benicio...
But in the end, it all comes down to one person.
That's Paige.

My name is Savannah Constance Levine, but you can call me Savannah. I'm a witch... and a sorceress.
Yeah, that's not supposed to be able to happen. Sorcerors want witches dead and witches just want to be left the hell alone. Those are the rules and that's how things are supposed to be... at least in some views. The snooty Coven and the Cabals are those views and they try to make the rules.
However, my mom was a witch and my dad was a sorceror.
Eve Levine and Kristof Nast.
They apparently made their own rules and here I am.
Niether one of them are around any longer, but those are stories for another time.
